Say Thank You For The Miseries, …
What a fuss of having a reunion and talk about nothing whatsoever. You could send a letter, telephone, send an e mail. It’s easy to have a reunion with internet but they didn’t do so if they think it to be much fun, important.
I then haven’t to worry about which clothes, which shoes to wear, to polish them, to cut, comb my hair, order a taxi, shake hands, kiss, smile, laugh, listen to clever, witty talk, talk when you have nothing to talk about, pride yourself if you have succes, sitting shy, unnoticed, silently if you are a failure and N.B. for decency’s sake to share in the expenditures of an expensive dinner and on top of that, say thank you for all the misery, suffering it has brought me.
When we weren’t married I often visited you, while I hate visiting. I almost never visited my aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, friends and aquaintances. But if you ask me to visit Browny and Blacky in Kebon Jeruk I gladly would go. When I drop by early in the morning on my bike on my way to the lake Cipondo; I call them and they ran excitedly to welcome me. I thrust my hand through an opening of the closed gate and they stand and lick my hand since I can’t go inside the house as there’s no one there.
“And gladly, with pleasure would I forget them all. Are you mad? We certainly won’t go. Ha, ha. Don’t you think I’m really a good husband to safeguard you from such inconvenience? Why don’t you kiss me?
So said Opa Johan to his wife.
