The Greatest Things In Life

The Greatest Things In Life

The greatest things in life are the sun, the earth, the air and water, without which,  no life is possible. We can still live without internet, electricity, money, call what you will, but without women, what's the use to be born?

I earn your kisses, you, dear little fools.

Musing On My i Pad

Musing On My i Pad

I just have the earliest  version and it has tremendous capabilities, not to mention of what I don’t know still. Imagine what it can do.

As I think of those who can’t afford to have a piano, a music teacher, music scores in former times, to have just a computer, access to internet to day is enough.

With my i Pad I could send my choir members a music accompaniment, exercizes, via You Tube and so practise singing without them having a piano and a teacher.

Today, just with my i Pad, I would have my concert staged in You Tube for anyone to hear, to see. Sure not so prestigious as in a concert hall. But that would become out of date.

I then could re-record songs any time when it isn’t good. I have no worry about the date of performance, the fuss, tedious, boring work of printing a concert program, invitation cards, buy stamps, envelopes, write people’s addresses, hire a concert hall, have a general rehearsal, a committee for receiving guests and a lot more and on top of it a head-ache.

I invite them by e mail, do all by myself, not in a hurry. The guests have no worry to come in full dress, by car  more than an hour through traffic jams and pollution to come in time. They can see, listen any time they like, any where they are.

I’m just lucky to know the internet, so mused the Choir Conductor.

She Got Kisses, What’s A Standing Ovation?

She Got Kisses, What’s A Standing Ovation?

“I know I’ve no beautiful voice and just sing simple, easy songs. When I was invited to sing in the Paulus church on Sunday, men and women, not only the old, kissed me. How happy I am.”  So said a woman.

What’s a standing ovation in the Carnegie Hall of Fame and she’s over 80.

And I thought of my little star, I could kiss her, though there’s almost no one would clap for her. She never won a prize in singing, but she won a prize - her voice was so rich, so warm, so natural, ... - in my heart.  This is an early poor recording with my i Pad.

And I would pray God to never let her know how beautiful she sings to keep her innocent, as true as an unspoiled child.

So said the Choir Conductor to me.

What Are Your Complaints?

What Are Your Complaints?

“Well, what are your complaints?” asked the doctor to Oma Johan.

“Why have you so many patients doc? I’m so tired awaiting my turn.”

“Yes, I’m very tired also to serve all of them.”

Waiting For The Princess

Waiting For The Princess

I always feel myself as the ugly duckling, as Sukasrana, the ugliest man ever, yet was so sakti (having inner power), as Karna, the great hero who was so defamed, but I actually feel myself as a prince - not a scarecrow - in the guise of a swineherd, waiting for the princess to recognize and kiss me as my reward. Ha. Ha.

Were I President Of Indonesia

Were I President Of Indonesia

I would have this speech exactly on the day before the proclamation day.

Saudara,  Dear brothers and sisters:

I don’t want to oblige you to come to attend the ceremony of the proclamation day anywhere in this country anymore. There’s no need to shout awful heroic commands as there’s no foe. Hear instead a beautiful voice singing. Raise the national flag that is in your heart. Judge any man from his inside, rather than  his brave, loyal outside appearance.

There will be no ceremony. You even don’t need to listen to, read my speech on TV, in the papers, in the internet. This is not a reign of fear, of force anymore.

Tomorrow is the Proclamation day, August 17, 2013.  Have a happy holiday with your family, your friends.

Good Health

Good Health

I never felt I had legs, arms, eyes, ears, teeth, a heart, lungs,... when I was in good health, until they hurt or there was a disorder.

Oma Johan’s Birthday Present

Oma Johan’s Birthday Present

I want you to give me your love, not a dinner in a restaurant, or taking me on a cruise, buy me a house, an island,... and on top of it, a congratulation card with a note, “I love you, mam”.

Does that proof anything? That’s nothing, stupid. Your love should be far more, felt, undeniable, obvious. Don’t fool your mother with presents only on her birthday. Ha. Ha.

So e mailed oma Johan her sons and daughter, as she remembered an aged mother sadly, bitterly saying: “A mother can raise ten children but ten grown up children can’t support one mother.”

Which Should I Choose?

A lovely weed

Lovely, eloquent eyes

 Which should I choose?

There’s not a plant, a creature not wonderful. Were there a thing, Nature – some say: God – created, that’s not wonderful, then my eyes fail to see it. God doesn’t reveal it to me.

The Choir Conductor’s Address To His Members

The Choir Conductor’s Address To His Members

I’d rather like to exercize you solo.

Were you singing solo well, then it was to your own honor, due, thanks to your own efforts. Were you then singing in the choir, you would cover the weaker voices and give strength, color, splendor to the choir.

Were you singing solo badly, out of tune, then you carry the blame, the shame yourself. Were you then singing in the choir, the choir has to bear your shame, your blame.

I don’t have to worry about this, were I to have a professional choir, as the members I selected before.
