The Choir Conductor’s Address To His Members
I’d rather like to exercize you solo.
Were you singing solo well, then it was to your own honor,
due, thanks to your own efforts. Were you then singing in the choir, you would cover
the weaker voices and give strength, color, splendor to the choir.
Were you singing solo badly, out of tune, then you carry
the blame, the shame yourself. Were you then singing in the choir, the choir
has to bear your shame, your blame.
I don’t have to worry about this, were I to have a
professional choir, as the members I selected before.
